So.... I tried this.... using the same parts and assembled as instructed. The flame burns fine for about 30 minutes, then gradually diminishes until it goes out. Still lots of fuel in the tank. The wick doesn't seem to be able to lift the oil as fsat as it needs to bern.

You have to love a Land Rover even when they are being a pain. I had an ex-RAF series 3 in the late 80’s, great vehicle….until the gearbox went. In hindsight I should have hung on to it. I’ve had a Disco more recently, again great utility vehicle.
